Tentative Schedule of Events

Since so many of our guests are coming from far away  – we are posting our tentative schedule of events so that our guests can start planning early and budget for coming all the way to California.

We plan to have a rehearsal dinner for family, the wedding party and out of town guests in San Francisco on Thursday 5/16/13 and the ceremony & reception at Barndiva in Healdsburg on Saturday 5/18/13.  Healdsburg is approximately 1.5 hours north of San Francisco (70 miles) or 20 min north of Santa Rosa (15 miles).

Option 1: Fly in/out of San Francisco International Airport and rent a car.  This will allow our out of town guests to join us for the rehearsal dinner on Thursday night.  Typically, tickets into SFO are cheaper than Santa Rosa. For those with a little more time, guests can choose to spend additional days in San Francisco.  Please remember, downtown SF hotels charge quite a bit for parking.  If you choose to stay additional days before or after the wedding, you may not want a car for the days you spend in San Francisco proper.

Option 2: Fly in/out of Santa Rosa airport and rent a car.  Unfortunately, it may not make sense to join us in San Francisco for the rehearsal dinner if flying into Santa Rosa.  However, it is a much closer drive than from San Francisco.  Santa Rosa airport is a regional airport and serviced by a small number of airlines.  A connection is almost guaranteed.

Option 3: Fly in/out of Oakland Airport (OAK).  For those who live in cities serviced by JetBlue and Southwest Airlines, there are often deals into Oakland airport which can be cheaper than San Francisco.  Oakland is approximately 20-40min drive from downtown SF depending on traffic.  Coming back from Healdsburg to Oakland, the driving time is similar to SFO.

Option 4: For those who live somewhat nearby (Los Angeles, Phoenix, etc.), driving may be an alternative to flying.

Regarding accommodations, we will be posting recommendations as soon as possible.  There plenty of lodging options in and around Healdsburg.  For families coming as a group, it may be most cost effective to rent a vacation home for the weekend.  Possible choices are posted in the “Accommodations” category.  Prices for hotels in downtown Healdsburg (and walking distance from the wedding) range $265-$500 per night.  Book early as rooms, especially those in the lower price range, tend to sell out early!

Thursday 5/16/13

7pm: Rehearsal dinner for family, wedding party and out of town guests in San Francisco.

Recommendation for guests: Fly in to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on Thursday during the day.  Rent a car.  Book a hotel near the SF airport.

Friday 5/17/13

– No events for guests. We will be posting things to do or see in San Francisco and the wine country.

Recommendation for guests: Check out of hotel in the morning.  Spend the day either sightseeing in San Francisco or wine tasting in Sonoma.  If spending the day in San Francisco, we recommend driving up to Sonoma after dinner as traffic can be heavy during commute hours.  If heading to Sonoma for the day, we recommend leaving before lunch and having lunch in Sonoma.

Time TBD: Wedding ceremony rehearsal for wedding party.

Time TBD: Dinner for wedding party and friends.  Location TBD.  This dinner is not hosted.

Saturday 5/18/13

3pm: Family photos

5pm-5:30pm: Wedding ceremony @ Barndiva

5:30pm-6:30pm: Cocktail hour for guests.  Photos for wedding party.

6:30pm-11pm: Reception @ Barndiva

Recommendation for guests:  The morning is free to sight see or do some wine tasting.  We will have recommendations on where to go on our wedding website (to be completed).  Barndiva is a few blocks off the main plaza in downtown Healdsburg.  There is quite a number of shops, restaurants and wine tasting rooms all within walking distance.

Sunday 5/19/13

10am: Breakfast @ Costeaux Bakery patio.  The space will not be reserved – first come, first serve.  This breakfast is not hosted.

Recommendation for guests: Take an afternoon flight out of San Francisco International Airport.  For early risers, enjoy breakfast in Healdsburg.  For late risers, enjoy lunch in Healdsburg.  Plan to heads towards San Francisco International Airport after lunch for a mid-afternoon flight.
